چکیده

In this study, plantwide control of an absorption/stripping CO2 capture process using mono-ethanol-amine was investigated using dynamic simulation. In this system, CO2 removal ratio is influenced by operating variables such as lean solvent rate and lean solvent loading, which is in-turn determined by reboiler duty in the stripper. Moreover, we found that the long term stability of the system cannot be achieved unless the water balance is properly maintained. Hence the following control structure was proposed. In this scheme, CO2 removal target is guaranteed using the lean solvent feed rate to the top of the absorber column. The overall water inventory was maintained by controlling liquid level in reboiler of the stripping column using makeup water. In order to operate process with an appropriate lean solvent loading, the temperature at the bottom of stripper is controlled by reboiler duty. This control structure was tested by disturbances involving inlet flue gas flow, and CO2 concentrations . Dynamic simulations showed that system can achieve removal targets, stabilize quickly while keeping optimum lean loading constant. To ensure minimum energy consumption, optimizing control can be carried out by adjusting the setpoint of reboiler temperature. *Corresponding author.(e-mail: [email protected], [email protected]).

Fabrication and Characterization of Polyetherimide Hollow Fiber Membrane Contactor for Carbon Dioxide Stripping from Monoethanolamine Solution

In this research, process asymmetric polyetherimide hollow fiber membranes using ethanol (0, 2 and 4 wt%) as non-solvent additive in the polymer dope via phase inversion method were fabricated. Aqueous solution of 1-methyl-2-pyrrolidine (NMP) (90%) was applied as a bore fluid to avoid inner skin layer formation and water was used as the external coagulant. The morphology of fabricated membranes...

A dynamic model for the de-absorption of carbon dioxide from Monoethanolamine solution

Due to the adverse effect of CO2 from fossil fuel combustion on the earth’s ecosystems, the most cost effective method for CO2 capture is an important area of research. The predominant process for CO2 capture currently employed by industry is chemical absorption in amine solutions. A dynamic model for the deabsorption process was developed with Monoethanolamine solution. Henry’s law was used fo...

Chemical Capture of CO2 by Glycine Salt Solution

The role of carbon dioxide in global warming is one of the contemporary environmental issues and it is, therefore, necessary to have available technology to capture the released CO2 into the atmosphere. Amino acids have the same amine functionality as alkanolamines with similar behavior towards CO2 absorption. The solubility of carbon dioxide in potassium glycinate (KG) solutions with different...
